Inge showed once again on Sunday in the Zilvermeercross in Mol that she has a lot to offer. She fought in the final lap for the victory, but she eventually had to let go of the Belgians Sanne Cant and Laura Verdonschot. Inge was of course very pleased with a third place.
As on Saturday in Hasselt, where she finished fifth, Inge started fast. She pitilessly took the lead and proved to be at home in the sand. In the second lap, Cant and Verdonschot joined in the lead. The three battled in the remainder of the race and proved to be evenly matched. It was only after a firm attack by the world champion Cant in the final lap that Inge finally had to bow her head.
"In the last lap, I only had a small gap. I was not able to get out of my pedal at the sand sector. I then had to make up for those few lost seconds and it became very tough. I didn’t have anything left”, says Inge, who raced her first CX double in one weekend. "I recovered well from Saturday. I often race a little better on the second day than on the first. But I had not dared to dream of a podium place beforehand."
